The Stoics kept a small phrase close: memento mori — remember you will die. Not as a threat, and not as an aesthetic. As a way of noticing the day you are actually in.
This is a real practice. It can quiet a life, and it can also unsettle one. We do not put it in front of a first sit, we do not offer it to anyone whose recent days have been heavy, and we do not run it every day. Sundays only.
Before you enroll
- ·It is not therapy. It is a settling practice from an old tradition. If you are in crisis or grief that is loud, please skip this and see our safety page first.
- ·Sit with at least three other practices first. You should know what a quiet practice feels like in your own body before this one.
- ·It arrives on Sundays, and only Sundays. You can unenroll at any time.
