Lesson 01 of 6 · Begin

Why sit at all.

The smallest possible case for a daily pause.

"All of humanity's problems stem from man's inability to sit quietly in a room alone."

Blaise Pascal, Pensées

You don't need a cushion, an app, or a robe. You need five minutes and a willingness to notice what your mind actually does when you stop feeding it.

The first time you sit, it will feel like nothing is happening. That is the beginning of something happening. The mind quietens the way a lake quietens — not by being told to, but by being left alone.

What sitting is not

It is not emptying the mind. It is not achieving bliss. It is not a productivity hack. It is simply the practice of being present, one breath at a time, and returning — gently — every time you drift.

Try it now

Sit for five minutes. Watch the breath. Return when you wander.

Worth remembering

  • ·Five minutes is enough to start.
  • ·The mind wandering is not failure — returning is the practice.
  • ·You do not need special equipment or beliefs.
