Lesson 06 of 6 · When it gets hard

When your mind will not quiet.

A note for the days when sitting feels useless.

Voice: FindOkay · 3 min read

A loud mind is not a failed sit. It is a mind you finally slowed down enough to hear.

On the hard days, shorten the sit. Three minutes is enough. Sit with the noise the way you would sit with a crying child — not fixing, just being with.

One trick that helps

Name what is happening. 'Planning.' 'Remembering.' 'Rehearsing an argument.' The naming loosens the grip. Then return to the breath, without scoring yourself.

Try it now

Sit for three minutes. When a thought grabs you, name it silently — planning, remembering, wanting — and return to the breath.
